Wysa-an AI-driven ‘emotionally intelligent’ Chatbot
June 12, 2017
Wysa is an AI-driven ‘emotionally intelligent’ chatbot which reacts to the emotions you express. It uses evidence-based cognitive-behavioral techniques (CBT), mindfulness techniques and micro-actions (like suggesting you to reframe your thoughts, or hug a loved one) to help you feel better instantly.
HOW IT WORKS:
After a brief introduction with the chatbot Wysa – an adorable, chubby penguin, you can type ‘Help’ to begin a chat. Wysa then asks you to choose and type from the options like #Mood, #Angry, #Relax, #Sleep, and #Breathe, for example, so that it can assist you accordingly. Based on your reply, it shares the relaxation techniques, motivational messages, and also recommends exercises like mindfulness breathing, stretching, 4-minute workout, etc., helping you calm down right away. It also suggests exercises based on positive psychology like writing a gratitude journal, connecting with nature, music therapy, hug a loved one, and so on.
“Our pilot projects showed that symptoms of anxiety and depression were halved in people who used our chat-based support over three months. More than 1mn user conversations have happened already. We hope this helps you too,” said the team at Wysa.
Overall, chatbots like Wysa are of great help when you have no one around to talk about your feelings, even psychologists think so. Furthermore, Wysa learns what works for you and what doesn’t, and shares a weekly report with analysis and suggestions, helping you manage your mood swings in a better way and set fitness goals for a healthier lifestyle.
