Vkaao- First-of-its-Kind ‘Theatre on Demand’ Service App
July 15, 2017
Developed by PVR Pictures, Vkaao is first-of-its-kind ‘Theatre on Demand’ service. This is an app that allows you to watch a movie of your choice at a PVR theatre in your neighbourhood. Must say, this app is a movie-lover’s delight, however, the choice of movies is limited to a few hundred. But considering the fact that the Vkaao platform is just 6 months old, it offers a good collection of Bollywood, Hollywood, Regional movies, and Vkaao exclusives. From action-packed thrillers to real-life stories of heroism to light-hearted comedies, there is something to suit the tastes of every film fan.
HOW IT WORKS
The moment you launch the app, you are shown the movies that are trending. These are the ones that can be screened in a theatre near you if enough people pay up for the screening. You can tap ‘Join’ and proceed to pay if interested in watching that movie. It’s worth noting that you can cancel your ticket before the screening is confirmed but not after that.
Another option is ‘create a screening’ of your favorite movie. You can select the movie of your choice from the Vkaao’s library followed by selecting one of the available dates, theatre, and time preference (like morning / afternoon / evening / night show). You can also see the price per seat and the minimum requirement (means how many seats need to be filled for a successful screening) while selecting your theatre and time preferences. The moment you confirm the date and time, the app will ask you whether you want your screening to be Public or Private. On selecting a Public screening, your movie will get listed on Vkaao for other Vkaao users to join (if they wish to). On the other hand, Private screening will only be accessible to the people you share it with.
In the next step, the app prompts you to select the seat type and the number of tickets you want to book, and also mentions how many more participants are required for your screening to get confirmed. You can then proceed to make the payment.
Once the screening is confirmed, you’ll get an email notification. The exact time of the show will be communicated to you during the week of the screening. In the event that your screening is not confirmed, you’ll receive a notification suggesting the cancellation of the show. Subsequently your ticket(s) amount will be refunded. However, you get a cashback if you are able to create a successful screening.
Talking about the user interface, it is easy to navigate and guides you at every step; moreover, FAQs are included to know more about payment and cancellation policy.
To sum up, PVR Cinemas deserves a thumbs up for its innovative, out of the box idea — Vkaao. It’s an exciting alternative to the conventional way of watching movies at the theatres.
