There are of course plenty of ways to learn to code online these days. But recently, there’s been a trend to allow would-be developers to learn it on the go. Enter SoloLearn, a development studio that has developed a series of apps, each one designed for a specific coding language. The apps are highly rated in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, mainly because they are dynamic, interactive, and offer a great way to learn the basics of coding. With SoloLearn’s app series, you can learn HTML, C++ Pro, Python, Java, SQL, JavaScript, PHP, CSS, C#, Swift, and Ruby.

Gamified Approach to Learning

SoloLearn, as the name suggests, helps you learn coding by yourself without any help. Simply pick the coding language you want to learn and download the app. If you want to learn how to build web pages, for example, you can download the Learn HTML app and Learn CSS app by SoloLearn from the app store.

The app follows a gamified approach to learning. The learning material is divided into bite-sized lessons, complete with video-tutorials, quizzes and checkpoints. Just watch the video, get the concepts, answer the questions correctly, and keep going. You’ll get a score after completing each lesson, which is designed to motivate you to redo lessons in which you didn’t get a perfect score.

There’s even an online leaderboard where users from around the globe post their scores. This works as a positive motivation to continue learning and complete the course. You’ll also get a certificate of completion too.

Code Playground

The app follows the principles of practical coding practice rather than theoretical learning. There is a Code Playground section within the app, where you can practice the code you’ve learnt and built-in code editor lets you make changes to the existing code, or write and compile your own custom code. You can even share your code with SoloLearn’s social community. Plus, you can also review the codes posted by other code learners and save them for an easy access later.

Q&A Discussions & Glossary

The app includes the Q&A community where you can post your queries and browse through the questions posted by other code learners. Glossary is also included to help you learn basic terms and data types.

Final Thought

Learning a programming language through SoloLearn’s series of apps is like playing a game wherein you’re motivated to advance from one lesson to another till you complete the course. An option to practice the code on the go is like the icing on the cake. Moreover, all of the apps by SoloLearn are free with no in-app purchases. So, if you’re really interested in learning a coding language, namely, HTML, C++, Python, Java, SQL, JavaScript, PHP, CSS, C#, Swift, and Ruby – you must download the apps developed by SoloLearn.
