What if you could help end world hunger by just donating ₹30? Well, ShareTheMeal app helps you do just that.
ShareTheMeal is an initiative of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to fight global hunger. Through this app, you can make small donations to specific WFP projects and track its progress. The WFP current project is providing meals to children who are affected by Boko Haram violence in Cameroon.
ShareTheMeal’s mission is to “build a world with zero hunger and ensure that every child always has access to nutritious food needed to thrive.” The idea for the app came about when the founders realized that smartphone users outnumber hungry children by 20 to 1. That means if every smartphone user “share their meal” via this app; theoretically no child would ever go to bed hungry.
HOW IT WORKS:
As soon as you install the app, you can see how many meals have been shared so far by other app users, and how many people are already using the app along with an option to connect to Facebook so that your friends can also share the meals using this app. With one tap on the “Share The Meal” button, you can donate as small as ₹30 to feed a child for one day. You can also choose to donate ₹210 to feed a child for one week, ₹900 to feed a child for one month, and so on. The app requires you to enter your Debit/Credit Card details to complete the donation process.
Overall, the app is designed for a noble cause, so go ahead – download it and spread a word about it. Start sharing the meal now! It costs only ₹30.
