Meerkat maker built a new app in secret, and almost one million people are already using it.
The makers of Meerkat, the once popular live-streaming app, are now ready with their next venture. The new venture is called Houseparty, and CEO & Co-founder Ben Rubin said, “It as an informal way to have group video chats on phones.” The app encourages users to have frequent, candid conversations with their friends and family.
The app’s description on the App Store says, “Welcome to the House, where the Party is always on. When you and your friends are in the app at the same time, you’ll see each other instantly. One tap and you’re in.”
Built under a pseudonym for about 10 months, the app has already garnered close to a million users and is especially popular among young people around the country.
