Track the progress of rural electrification initiative in the country
On 15th August 2015, Hon’ble PM announced that all remaining un-electrified villages would be electrified within 1000 days. The Ministry of Power has taken up the electrification of all such un-electrified villages on Mission mode. As a nodal agency for the implementation of Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGJY), Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC) has set up a new monitoring mechanism to ensure greater transparency, micromanagement and expediting electrification works in these 18452 un-electrified villages. The GARV app is an important part of this monitoring mechanism. It lets you track the progress of rural electrification in India through a real-time dashboard.
The dashboard presents the total number of un-electrified villages, detailed status of un-electrified villages, villages to be electrified, household data, visits to villages by GVA (Gram Vidyut Abhiyanta or say young electrical engineers), state plan, and the work-in-progress – whether the villages have been surveyed or the work has yet to start. You can also have a look at the milestones achieved and progress made in last 4 weeks. The app also includes press gallery and state reports along with contact details of GVA, state-wise. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are also included that explain the roles and responsibilities of GVA and how the progress is updated on the GARV app. It also mentions state/district wise challenges in the electrification of villages.
