mAadhaar – An UIDAI App
September 22, 2017
Launched by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the mAadhaar app lets you store your Aadhaar card information on your smartphone so that you can have access to your Aadhaar Card digitally, 24×7.
How it works:
As soon as you launch the app for the very first time, you’ll be asked to create a robust password followed by entering your Aadhaar number. Upon entering the Aadhaar number, you’ll receive the OTP via an SMS that the app will automatically read and verify your Aadhaar number. There is no provision to manually enter the OTP in the app as this is a security feature.
Note: You need to make sure that your phone is carrying the same mobile number that you’ve provided at the time of applying for Aadhaar number. Otherwise, the verification will not work.
As soon as your Aadhaar number gets verified, the app will download your Aadhaar data from UIDAI and store the details in the app.
It is worth mentioning that this app enables you to store details of more than one Aadhaar card in the digital form (maximum 3 profiles). This is useful when members of your family have the same mobile number registered (as yours) with their Aadhaar Card.
Also, please check the app developer, i.e. Unique Identification Authority of India before downloading the app from the Google Play Store as many fake ones are out there to steal your data. The app is only available for Android users.
