Renowned as the Queen of the Indian Television space, Ekta Kapoor is now ruling the Digital Entertainment space with her recently-launched mobile app ‘ALTBalaji’. In addition to the original content, ALTBalaji has acquired popular Korean and English shows, and Bollywood movies.

The ALTBalaji app showcases original, new-age stories written by acclaimed writers, and directed by award-winning directors, starring popular celebrities from both television and film industry. The app aims to reach out to the audience interested in watching original online content that exists between the edgy drug drama, Narcos, on Netflix and ongoing supernatural series on TV, Naagin.
By downloading the ALTBalaji app, you can watch shows like, “Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat” – a story on how opposites attract, “Boygiri” – Men never grow up – a comedy drama about youngsters and their fantasies, “The Test Case” – a story about the first woman army officer in a combat role, “Dev DD” – a story about a woman devdas who is wilder than your imagination, “Bewafaa sii Wafaa” – a passionate tale about meeting your soulmate after you’re married, and “Romil and Jugal” – a gay love story and its trials and tribulations.
Not just that, you can also have a fun time watching stand-up comedy shows – under the ‘Comedy’ tab. Then, there is a ‘Kids’ tab, featuring 100+ hours of entertaining video content for kids and, being a parent, if you don’t want your kids to access any other content on the app other than Kids shows, you can simply enable the ‘Kids Mode’.
The app also features acquired content such as popular Korean and English shows, namely, Love/Hate, Endeavour, Signal, The Doctor Blake Mysteries, Murdoch Mysteries, Gap Dong, Who are You?, and Cheo Yong. You can also watch blockbuster movies launched by Balaji Telefilms so far under the ‘Movies’ tab.
Though the app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for free in 75+ countries, it follows a subscription-based model. This means that the first five episodes of all shows are available for free after which you can choose to pay either Rs.100 for 3 months, Rs.180 for 6 months, or Rs.300 for 12 months to unlock all the content.
Being the largest content bank of the original shows from India, ALTBalaji app has stories from different worlds – in genres ranging from thriller to mystery, drama to comedy and romance, in multiple Indian languages; the ALTBalaji app has shows for everyone, from youngsters to working professionals to families and we are looking forward to see what comes next!
